National immunization schedule and vaccines (Health loksewa)

vThere are altogether 12 types of Antigens provided by NIP.

vThey are listed below:-

 

1. BCG (Bacillus Calamette Guerin)

Ø No. of doses :- 1 time

Ø Recommended age (schedule) :- At birth or on first contact with health institution

Ø Dose :- 0.05ml (0.1ml)

Ø Site :- Right upper arm

Ø Route :- ID (Intra-dermal)

Ø Prevent from :- Tuberculosis 

 

2. OPV (Oral Polio Vaccine)

Ø No. of doses :- 3 times

Ø Recommended age (schedule) :- 6, 10 and 14 weeks of age

Ø Dose :- 2-3 drops

Ø Site :- Mouth (oral cavity)

Ø Route :- Orally

Ø Prevent from :- Poliomyelitis 

 

3. Pentavalent (DPT-Hepatitis B & Hib :- Diphtheria, Pertusis, Tetaus, Hepatitis-B, Hemophilus influenza type-B)

Ø No. of doses :- 3 times

Ø Recommended age (schedule) :- 6, 10 and 14 weeks of age

Ø Dose :- 0.5ml

Ø Site :- Left Lateral mid-thigh (outer part)

Ø Route :- IM (Intra-muscular)

Ø Prevent from :- Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Hepatitis-B, Meningitis, Pneumonia 

 

4. Rotavirus vaccine

Ø No. of doses :- 2 times

Ø Recommended age (schedule) :- 6 and 10 weeks of age

Ø Dose :- 1.5ml

Ø Site :- Mouth (oral cavity) - Inner part of cheek

Ø Route :- Orally

Ø Prevent from :- Diarrhea 

 

5. FIPV (Fractional Inactivated Polio Vaccine)

Ø No. of doses :- 2 times

Ø Recommended age (schedule) :- 6 and 14 weeks of age  

Ø Dose :- 0.1ml

Ø Site :- Left upper arm

Ø Route :- ID (Intra-dermal)

Ø Prevent from :- Poliomyelitis

 

6. PCV (Pneumoccal Conjugate Vaccine)

Ø No. of doses :- 3 times

Ø Recommended age (schedule) :- 6, 10 weeks and 9 months of age

Ø Dose :- 0.5ml

Ø Site :- Right mid-thigh (outer part)

Ø Route :- IM (Intra-muscular)

Ø Prevent from :- Pneumonia

 

7. MR (Measles, Rubella)

Ø No. of doses :- 2 times

Ø Recommended age (schedule) :- First dose at 9 months and second dose at 15 months of age

Ø Dose :- 0.5ml

Ø Site :- Left upper arm

Ø Route :- SC (Sub-cutaneous)

Ø Prevent from :- Measles and Rubella

 

8. JE (Japanese Encephalitis)

Ø No. of doses :- 1 time

Ø Recommended age (schedule) :- 12 months of age

Ø Dose :- 0.5ml

Ø Site :- Right upper thigh

Ø Route :- SC (Sub-cutaneous)

Ø Prevent from :- Japanese encephalitis

 

9. TD (Tetanus, Diphtheria)

Ø No. of doses :- 2 times

Ø Recommended age (schedule) :- Pregnant women: 2 doses of Td one month apart in first pregnancy and 1 dose in each subsequent pregnancy

Ø Dose :- 0.5ml

Ø Site :- Left upper arm

Ø Route :- IM (Intra-muscular)

Ø Prevent from :- Tetanus and diphtheria
